Derrick “D-Nice” Jones is a pioneering DJ, rapper, producer, and photographer from the Bronx. Rising to fame in 1986 with Boogie Down Productions, he later launched a solo career and became a renowned celebrity photographer.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, he gained global recognition for Club Quarantine, his Instagram Live series that transformed social media into a global dance floor and brought millions together in a moment of collective isolation.

CALL ME D-NICE, written with Adam Bradley, is part memoir and part cultural history. The book traces Derrick “D-Nice” Jones’s hip-hop lineage, the creation of Boogie Down Productions, the shifts in hip-hop and rap, and the evolution of his artistry from human drum machine to photographer to the DJ who brought the world together through Club Quarantine.
